Electrolux Refrigerator Ice Maker Problems

Electrolux Refrigerator Ice Maker Problems
Putting an ice maker in any fridge reduces its reliability, though Electrolux wasn’t high on that list before you factored in the ice maker. That does not help me now. Before you assume the ice maker is broken, open up the back of the fridge and see if the water inlet water filter is clogged. If that’s filling up with hard water scale, you’ll have decreased water pressure to the ice maker.
In short, you think it is a water supply problem. I am assuming you have it connected properly, and didn’t just leave the cap on the water inlet valve in place when it was set up. If there’s a water leak to the ice maker, you’ll notice it. I do not have a big puddle on the floor. Do you have a big frozen mess in the freezer? Water hoses to the ice maker leaking into the freezer will lead to a freezer full of ice and less ice or water coming out the dispenser. It makes more noise and less ice.
If you have partially frozen water in the tubing, you’ll get less water or ice coming out until it clears the frozen log jam. How do you fix that without defrosting the freezer? You could make a point of running water through the dispenser periodically to keep the tubing frost free. I’ve heard that water scale could block the tubing too.
You have to have really hard water and a really clogged filter for pieces to get past that filter and block up the water tubes or damage the ice maker. You’re more likely to have chemicals in a badly run water softener damage it. I’ve never heard of that happening. It is in the Electrolux user manual for their refrigerators.
Any time you see one of those weird warnings in a user manual, someone not only had it happen but sued over it happening. Check the control panel, and see if the ice maker LED is lit up to say it is on. If the LED above the ice off icon is lit, the ice maker is turned off. It isn’t like I would have turned it off.
The control board could malfunction and turn it off. That I’d try to fix by power cycling it. You could try holding the ice off button down for three seconds to turn it back on. Or flip between the ice off and fast freeze options to see if that gets it going again.
