Maytag Ice Maker Troubleshooting

Image
I can help you with that process. The refrigerator itself is working fine, but I need help with the ice maker component. What would you do with out me, you helpless man? I don’t know my queen. I have already checked the shut off arm to make sure it is in the on position. That is an excellent first step. Another thing you should do is to make sure that the shut off valve is fully open. The shut off valve controls the flow of water into the ice maker itself. Another thing to check is to make sure that the water lines feeding into the ice maker are fully functional and that there are no kinks in the line. OK roger that. What else should I do for Maytag ice maker troubleshooting? You will also want to clear out any remaining ice in the ejector. Sometimes on occasion an ice cube can get stuck in the ejector and disrupt the ice making process. OK, I can do that. Another thing to do is to totally clear out the bin to make sure that it is ready to receive more cubes. Also make sure tha

Troubleshooting a Refrigerator Ice Maker

Make sure someone did not turn it off, before you assume it is broken. It is turned on. Then make sure the water hose isn’t disconnected, because it won’t do much more than keep the current bucket of ice cold if it can’t get water to make more ice. I cannot see how that got disconnected. Maybe the water hose is connected but the water in it froze, so it can’t get more water to the unit to make more ice . I thought the freezer had a defroster in it. The defroster may not be working, which means the ice is building up. That I’d know for sure. Or the ice in the tube is so thick it can’t get melted by the freezer defrosting heater; after all, it is only going to melt ice on the bottom of most freezers. It still sounds weird to say the heater in the freezer. Remember that if the freezer heater is stuck on, the ice maker will work but all the ice coming out may not be frozen solid, and the ice on the bottom of the bin if not on an upper shelf will be a slush. True. What else could I do

How to Fix Your Refrigerator Ice Maker

Image
I understand why, since Consumer Reports said any fridge with an ice maker breaks about forty percent more often than those without. That only tells me not to buy a fridge with an ice maker in the future, not to do with the broken ice maker in my home now. If it has leaked water to the point that the ice maker is encased in ice, don’t bother fixing it – just replacing it. I suppose that’s because the electrical problems created when the ice melts are just too bad to be able to repair. And the mechanical problems the stresses of freezing and melting can cause. That’s minimal in an appliance made to freeze water. If the ice maker is leaking water, the first thing I’d say to check is the water line . It isn’t loose. I already looked. Check the water line for frozen chunks of ice. That can block the water flow, forcing some water to leak out and freeze in the freezer. If I had a leak that bad, I’d expect flooding on the floor because that water melting plus the standard frost buil

Electrolux Refrigerator Ice Maker Problems

Putting an ice maker in any fridge reduces its reliability, though Electrolux wasn’t high on that list before you factored in the ice maker. That does not help me now. Before you assume the ice maker is broken, open up the back of the fridge and see if the water inlet water filter is clogged. If that’s filling up with hard water scale, you’ll have decreased water pressure to the ice maker. In short, you think it is a water supply problem. I am assuming you have it connected properly, and didn’t just leave the cap on the water inlet valve in place when it was set up. If there’s a water leak to the ice maker , you’ll notice it. I do not have a big puddle on the floor. Do you have a big frozen mess in the freezer? Water hoses to the ice maker leaking into the freezer will lead to a freezer full of ice and less ice or water coming out the dispenser. It makes more noise and less ice. If you have partially frozen water in the tubing, you’ll get less water or ice coming out until it c

Viking Refrigerator Ice Maker Problems

If the water hose to the fridge is kinked, the ice maker cannot get enough water to run. I think the water filter needing to be replaced because it is clogged due to debris or rust is more likely. On a Viking fridge, you’ll see the water filter indicator go yellow when it is around ninety percent of its usable life has gone by and red when the filter is a year old or the set amount of water has gone through it. One, my water is not so hard that I have to replace filters that often. Two, I do not think I’ve bothered to tell it when I replaced the filter last time, so it may not be reading right. If you do replace the filter, push the water filter indicator button for three seconds to reset the timer. You could try putting it in maximum ice mode to see if that helps. All I want is make some ice mode. Viking refrigerators have Max Ice mode to lower the freezer temperature to make more ice. It may already be set to that. How can I tell? When Ice Max mode is on, the freezer contro
